Following Rep. Molinaro Push, Controversial Solar Proposal In Copake Rejected

Leeds, NY – Following advocacy from U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19), the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting rejected Hecate Energy’s proposal to construct a controversial solar project in Copake. Rep. Molinaro released the following statement applauding the decision:

“This was the right decision. I’ve supported an all-of-the-above energy approach, but this project was wrong for us. The proposal would have deforested 40 acres, eliminated over 200 acres of farmland, and was located on a flood plain without a mitigation plan. It would have affected the watershed for the City of Hudson, destroyed the rural landscape of the Town of Copake, and impacted home values. There were little to no benefits for the community and that’s why I fought against it.”
