Rep. Molinaro Blasts Gov. Hochul’s 11th Hour Deal To Eliminate Disability Providers

Binghamton, NY — U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) released the following statement on Governor Kathy Hochul’s new plan to eliminate disability providers through the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP):

“I fully oppose Governor Hochul’s reported 11th hour deal to eliminate providers through the CDPAP.

“First, the Governor tried to slash funding for the program. Now her new plan is a full government takeover of the program.

“Disability advocates know what this means: less providers and worse care. Governor Hochul’s plan is a direct attack on the disability community and must be withdrawn.”

Background:

In 2015 Rep. Molinaro created Think DIFFERENTLY, the nationally recognized initiative, which breaks down barriers for individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. In Congress, Rep. Molinaro built off this work by crafting bipartisan legislation to make key areas of society more inclusive.

He’s also led the opposition to Governor Hochul’s cuts to CDPAP. Last month he travelled to Albany to rally against the plans.
