Binghamton, NY – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today issued the following statement denouncing an effort considered by the Democrat-controlled Binghamton City council to dissolve the Binghamton Police Department.

“This is a ridiculous and extreme idea. I can’t believe it still has to be said, but we should not defund our police. Not in Binghamton. Not anywhere. I applaud Mayor Jared Kraham, Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar and all those who stood against this dangerous proposal.”

In Congress, Rep. Molinaro has stood up against the Defund the Police movement and fought to deliver more funding for police departments in Broome County and across New York’s 19th Congressional District.
