Molinaro Delivers Over $10 Million In Federal Funds To Airports In Broome, Chenango, Columbia, Otsego & Tompkins Counties

Binghamton, NY – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today announced $10,322,845 in federal funding will go to Greater Binghamton Airport, Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, Columbia County airport, Albert S Nader Regional Airport, Tri-Cities Airport, and Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport. These funds are available through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grant Program and the Airport Improvement Grant Program. With these investments, the airports will upgrade existing terminals, terminal aprons, passenger boarding bridges, runway lights, and other airport infrastructure. Rep. Molinaro serves on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, which oversees the FAA, and voted to pass legislation that increases funding for the FAA's safety and infrastructure programs. Rep. Molinaro said, "I'm excited to announce these significant investments in our airports across Upstate New York. This funding will support important infrastructure advancements to ensure our local airports remain competitive and provide comfort for travelers." Roxan E. Noble, Airport Director for Ithaca Tompkins International Airport said, "We are thrilled to receive these grants from the DOT: Federal Aviation Administration with the support of Congressman Marc Molinaro. The combined funding for these grants is a testament to our commitment to enhancing both the sustainability and infrastructure of Ithaca Tompkins International Airport. These projects will not only improve our operational efficiency but also ensure a safer and more reliable travel experience for our community." Nader Regional Airport. This dedication will enhance the safety of our airport by providing important funding which will prevent and / or mitigate airspace hazards, ensuring a better experience for all who travel through our region." Eaton Airport said, "Thank you to Congress, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) for their continued support of Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport (OIC). The safety of our pilots and their passengers is of the greatest importance to us. Funding this project will make sure Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport continues to be a catalyst for both economic and recreational activity in Chenango County into the future. A full list of grants can be found below: Greater Binghamton Airport will receive $4,937,777 to reconstruct 51,000 square feet of existing terminal building, upgrade the security screening area, hold room area, baggage claim area, restrooms, HVAC, roadway canopy, and sidewalks, and replace two passenger boarding bridges. This project also reconstructs existing edge lighting on a taxiway, rehabilitates 6,720 feet of the existing paved taxiway, and rebuilds 46 existing airfield signs. Ithaca Tompkins International Airport will receive $3,791,588 to reconstruct 5,000 square yards of the existing Terminal Apron pavement, rehabilitate 20,000 square yards of the existing Terminal Apron pavement, update the Sustainable Master Plan/Solid Waste Recycling Plan and improve the Geographic Information System. Columbia County Airport is receiving $927,270 to reconstruct the existing edge lighting on a taxiway. Albert S Nader Regional Airport in Oneonta will receive $387,434 to get rid of pathway obstructions in the airport to bring the facility into conformity with current standards. Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott will receive $117,249 to reconstruct runway end identifier lights system for existing runways. Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich is receiving $161,527 to remove on and off airport trees from the runway to bring the airport into conformity with current standards. |
