Rep. Molinaro Blasts Cuomo for Deadly Nursing Home Cover Up
Washington,
September 9, 2024
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today released a statement slamming New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on his deadly nursing home mandate. As a county executive, Rep. Molinaro fought back against Governor Cuomo’s pandemic orders, and in Congress, he has worked with the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. New evidence shows that former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and his team were involved in the decision to issue New York’s disastrous March 25th Directive, and then, acted repeatedly to downplay the tragic aftermath of their decision. Testimony revealed in the Select Subcommittee’s memo details how the former Governor’s office made a deliberate decision to exclude scientifically significant nursing home related COVID-19 deaths from mortality rates and heavily edit official New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) documents to shift blame away from Mr. Cuomo and his team. Read the key findings here. Rep. Molinaro said, "As County Executive, I led efforts to help save lives while Governor Cuomo wielded power that risked people’s lives. His deadly mandate sent COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes, and then his administration covered it up to save his reputation – all while writing a book for personal profit. The Select Subcommittee’s findings are damning – Cuomo and his team knowingly manipulated the data, hid the truth, and betrayed thousands of New York families who lost loved ones. It’s a disgrace.” Rep. Molinaro continued, "Now, in Congress, I’m making sure we hold those responsible accountable. No politician, no matter how powerful, should get away with endangering the lives of our seniors and lying to the public. I’ll continue working with the House Committee on the Coronavirus to ensure these families get the answers and justice they deserve. We cannot allow these bureaucratic cover-ups and criminal negligence to go unanswered. The truth will come out, and we will make sure there are consequences." |
