Rep. Molinaro Slams Gov. Hochul’s Ignorant Remark About Disability & Senior Service Program, Demands Public Apology

Binghamton, NY U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) released the following statement on Governor Kathy Hochul calling the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) program a ‘racket’:

“Governor Hochul’s comments were as insulting as they are ignorant and she needs to apologize. This was a program that gave seniors and those with disabilities the freedom to choose their own caregiver. Because this Governor isn’t competent enough to run the program, she ripped it up and now is forcing vulnerable New Yorkers to navigate a broken & bloated state bureaucracy.

“If Governor Hochul wants to find a racket – look in the mirror. The real racket is the Governor who preaches about caring, while plugging a budget hole she created on the backs of those who can afford it least.”

Background:

In 2015, Rep. Molinaro created the ‘Think DIFFERENTLY' initiative to break down barriers for individuals with disabilities and has built off the initiative in Congress. He also is a strong supporter of CDPAP and has led the opposition against Governor Hochul’s most recent budget, which cuts funding from the program and eliminates nearly all fiscal intermediaries (FI) jobs.
