During National Police Week, Rep. Molinaro Votes to Pass Pro-Police Legislative Package

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today, during National Police Week, voted to pass a pro-police legislative package that supports police officers and combats the ‘Defund & Defame the Police’ movement.

Earlier in the week, Rep. Molinaro spoke on the House Floor in support of this package and to thank the men and women  serving in law enforcement in Upstate New York.

Rep. Molinaro said, “Bail reform laws and the ‘Defund & Defame the Police’ movement have demoralized police officers, made their jobs more dangerous, and diminished community safety. During National Police week, I’m proud to pass a pro-police package that supports law enforcement in Upstate New York and condemns any effort to defund or dismantle police departments. As Upstate New York’s voice in Congress, I will always defend those who defend us and vigorously oppose defunding the police – not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it will protect our police officers and make our communities safer.”

Rep. Molinaro has made funding police departments in New York’s 19th Congressional District among his top priorities. Earlier this year, Rep. Molinaro announced he is pushing to increase funding for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Program, which helps local police departments hire and train police officers.
