Rep. Molinaro Announces Infrastructure Improvement Priorities for Fiscal Year 2024

Washington, DCU.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today announced his infrastructure improvement priorities for the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill.

Each year, the House Appropriations Committee crafts legislation that determines funding levels for federal agencies and programs. In the upcoming Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill, Rep. Molinaro called on the House Appropriations Committee to prioritize improving water infrastructure, roadways, railroad safety, and programs that support environmental conservation.

Rep. Molinaro said, “Upstate New Yorkers are living with infrastructure systems that are in a constant state of disrepair. This issue came up time and time again during my town halls and is an issue I’m prioritizing as a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. For the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill, I’m fighting to direct funding to programs that will strengthen our infrastructure, protect our environment, and improve the lives of Upstate New Yorkers.”

Specifically, Rep. Molinaro asked the House Appropriations Committee to prioritize federal funding for the following:

  • Programs that fund maintenance and repairs to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, including the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
  • Programs that fund broadband and connectivity projects in rural areas.
  • The Bridge Investment Program, which funds bridge and road repairs.
  • Programs that help emergency response agencies prevent, respond to, and recover from hazardous materials incidents involving railroads.
  • Programs that help vulnerable New Yorkers pay their energy bills.
  • The Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program, which funds rail safety technology and equipment.
  • Programs that protect forests, lands, wetlands, endangered species, waterways including the Delaware River, Hudson River, and Susquehanna River.

Earlier this year, Rep. Molinaro was selected to serve on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee. In this role, Rep. Molinaro oversees the rollout of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and is working to ensure Upstate New York, including rural communities, get their fair share of federal infrastructure investments.
